Lynn Bailey
Lynn Bailey is a printmaker, using a wide range of print processes – even combining print with ceramics.
Her original training in the 1980’s gave a solid grounding in traditional printmaking processes, including traditional etching. But being involved with Double Elephant Print Workshop since its inception (1997), she has had the opportunity to experiment with more environmentally friendly methods.
Though her work she strives to express something about the physicality of a landscape, exploring the vitality of change and renewal as well as a commenting on how we interact with the land. The resulting images emerge from experimenting with ways of combining contradictory elements. An important part of creating the work is the collection of samples and materials. Plants, earth and litter are used in the printing processes. Photographs are taken, sketches made and maps are sought out. Images and ideas are extracted and recombined resulting in prints that often bring together many different processes in one piece.
