About My Work

I think that what I do could currently best be described as Fauvism meets Abstract Expressionism. For certain, Matisse and Pollock are very influential artists to me. Unlike Matisse, however, I tend to draw as much from imagination and other artists, as I do the objective world. Unlike Pollock, I am not trying to paint the unconscious but rather acknowledge what Jung called the, “Shadow World” as being the domain of the Numinous, which mediates or subjectifies experience with the outside world. It brings us into being but we do not always have control (and never complete control) over reality, emotion and experience. Therefore, for me, art is all about this connection between the physical, the psychical and the spiritual, the essence of which transcends notions of culture, identity and even language and time
