I studied illustration at Brighton. I work in collage and paint producing images that use brightly coloured and decorative found papers. My subjects are inspired by human relationships and everyday experiences. The characters are half cats and birds and half human. I often use speech bubbles to give my characters voices, which don’t necessarily illuminate the story but can add a layer of ambiguity and menace. I am interested in exploring the banal and dark humour that comes from the failed attempts we make at communication and the infinite number of interpretations that can follow.
