Jacqueline Leighton Boyce
Jacqueline Leighton Boyce studied ceramics at Falmouth School of Art and also at the Central St Martins. In 2003 she left London and returned to her childhood roots on a farm on Exmoor where her ceramics studio is now kept. When she first returned to Exmoor her inspiration drew from an urban environment and also from the digital phenomena. However, several years later the textures and colours of the Exmoor landscape and a fascination with 'the English Garden' has been fueling her inspiration for her work. She has also for the first time in her ceramics career, been exploring the vessel as a form and particularly the idea of an 'impractical' jug. Her pieces are multi-layered using slips, glazes and metal lustres to produce painterly surfaces. Drawing on clay is an important aspect to her work.
